Pela Case | Eco-Switch Highlight

Since my Low-Waste post, I've wanted to highlight some small changes I've made over the years to make as many facets of my life as low-waste as possible. This month's highlight is something easily forgotten: phone cases.

This month's highlight is a company called Pela CaseIf you have any other eco-friendly phone case companies to share, please do!

Imagine how many phones go to landfill each year. They go into the oceans and habitats faster than we can keep track. And to think—people change out their phone cases more than they change out their phones. So logically, you can imagine how big that number is.

Even for someone like me who doesn't change their phone case often, I can count how many I've thrown into landfill: about 8. That's still 8 cellphone cases I've put into landfill, made of plastic or some other unnatural products which are bad for the environment.

Pela Case prevents you from feeling bad about throwing away your cell phone cases. They are made of flax, and therefore 100% biodegradable. So, you can compost them, you can toss them, guilt-free, knowing they will not hurt the environment. I bought my Pela Case, and my clumsy person has dropped my phone a handful of times without fear because they are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they are durable.

And to boot, depending on which case you buy, part of the proceeds can go toward a wonderful, environmentally minded organization. Even better, when it ships to you, it is all recyclable or compostable packaging. This is the ideal conscious consumer company. Not only is the product great, but they are considering multiple business avenues in which they can push their message.

The main thing to keep in mind when you are making low-waste changes is to see the little things in life which produce waste. Sure, you may only allow yourself to get two new phone cases a year, but add that up. Think of how your friend who may work in a phone store does that even more often.

I couldn't recommend Pela Case more for your next green switch.

Hope you all have a lovely day, and thanks for reading. Cheers!
